David “Laddie” Hayes - October 05, 2012
After attending McCook Junior College for one and one-half years, he was drafted into the U.S. Army and fought in the South Pacific Theater of war during World War II.
Following the war, David married Charlotte Mary O’Neil of Wauneta, Neb. They moved to southern California where Laddie earned a bachelor of science degree in Business Administration from U.C.L.A. He then had a career in the aerospace industry, primarily with the Garrett Corporation.
David was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte Mary; sons, David and John and granddaughter Elizabeth; as well as his parents, Francil and Viola Hayes and his brother, Larry G. Hayes.
David is survived by his sons, Randy, William and Brian; daughter-in-law Mary; grandchildren: Lara, David, Kristin, Brian Jr., and George. He is also survived by his sister, Lois Hoff of Wauneta and his sister-in-law, Donna Christner Hayes of Colorado Springs, Colo.
Funeral services were held on Monday, Oct. 15, 2012, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Imperial, Neb., with pastor Father Bernard Lorenz officiating.
Interment followed at Mount Hope Cemetery at Imperial.
