Ruby Ham - April 28, 2012
Ruby Joyce (Blosmo) Ham was a twin born on March 28, 1923, at Seim, S. D., to John and Florence (Sickenger) Blosmo.
She grew up and graduated from Lemmon High School in 1943. Ruby then moved to California and lived with her twin sister, Rilla. She worked at Lockheed on P-38 airplanes and became known as “Ruby the Riveter.” It was during this time she met a handsome guy from Nebraska named Donald Ham.
Don and Ruby were married Dec. 5, 1943, in California and to this union five children, William, Susan, Robert, Kenneth and Sylvia, were born. In 1954, they moved to a farm east of Wauneta. Ruby was a busy farm wife and mother who worked side by side with her husband.
Ruby was a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She also worked many years in Job’s Daughters with her daughters. Ruby was a long-time member of the Wauneta United Methodist Church.

Ruby passed away Saturday, April 28, 2012, at the Tiffany Square Care Facility in Grand Island, Neb. She was 89 years of age.
Survivors Include: son Bill Ham and wife Linda of Bullhead City, Ariz.; daughter Susan and husband Greg Dunn of Sioux Falls, S.D.; son Bob Ham of Max, Neb.; son Kenny Ham and wife Diana of Wauneta, Neb.; daughter Sylvia and husband Roger Hanousek of Cairo, Neb.; 12 grandchildren:
Barbara Hughes, Laura Ham, David Ham, Paula Gardner, Teresa Hall, James Melinger, Micheal Dunn, Christopher Dunn, Jeri League, Erica DeLeon, Don Hanousek, and Ryan Hanousek; 10 great grandchildren; brother Mearl Blosmo and wife Lois of Spearfish, S.D.; sisters-in-law: Kathleen Ham and Eula Ham of Benkelman, Neb.
Ruby was preceded in death by her husband, Donald, in 1996, her parents, twin sister Rilla and husband Harrison Miles, brother Ted Blosmo and wife Harriett.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon, May 7, 2012, 2:00 p.m. MT at the United Methodist Church of Wauneta with Pastor Bonnie McCord officiating.
Music was provided by Mrs. Beth Kollmorgen, pianist and Mr. Tony Ham, soloist. Musical selections chosen were “How Great Thou Art,” “In the Garden” and “On Eagle’s Wings.”
Eastern Star Rites were performed by Holly Chapter #233, Order of Eastern Star, Benkelman, Neb.
Casketbearers were Jon Hughes, David Ham, Michael Dunn, Kip Engell, James Melinger, Christopher Dunn, Noel DeLeon, Don Hanousek, Ryan Hanousek andMike Hanna.
Honorary Casketbearers were Barbara Hughes, Laura Ham, Paula Gardner, Scott Gardner, Teresa Hall, Andrea Melinger, Jeri League, Erica DeLeon and Natalie Ham.
Interment followed at the Benkelman Cemetery, Benkelman, Neb.
A memorial has been established in Ruby’s memory.
