David S. Johnson - November 14, 2011
David S. Johnson of Loveland, Colo., passed away Nov. 14, 2011, in Loveland. He was born March 24, 1957, in Hayes County, Neb., to Charles and Betty Johnson.
David was raised in Hayes County and graduated from Wauneta Public High School in 1975. He earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln.
He married Laurie Hofeldt on March 13, 1982, in Denver.
David worked as a farmer, was a lieutenant for the Loveland Fire and Rescue for over 15 years, and was working as a technician for Century Link at the time of his passing. He was a bee keeper by hobby and was a member of the Colorado Bee Keepers Association.
He loved hunting and fishing with his sons, watching football and spending time with his friends and family. He lived to watch his sons play football while they were growing up and attended countless games over the years.
He was known as the king of one-liners, also known as “David-isms.” David was incredibly intelligent with a wealth of knowledge in many areas. He was a mentor and teacher to many,
David is survived by his wife, Laurie; mother, Betty Johnson of McCook, Neb.; sons, Chase and wife Jamie of York, Neb., and Hans of Hayes Center, Neb.; brother, George and wife Johnna of Overland Park, Kan., and sisters, Jane Johnson of Palisade, Neb., and Julie and husband Mark Nelson of Kent, Wash.
He was preceded in death by his father.
A memorial service was held on Friday, Nov. 18 at 11 a.m. at the Crossroads Church in Loveland with Chaplain Nancee Schroeder officiating.
