LaVern Hixon - October 30, 2011
LaVern V. Hixon, 87 of Kearney, Neb., passed away Sunday, Oct. 30, 2011, at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
LaVern Virgil Hixon was born on Nov. 13, 1923, in Wauneta, Neb., to Jason and Iva (Fletcher) Hixon.
He was united in marriage to Darlene M. Cole on March 31, 1946. The couple was blessed with two children, Gloria and Ron. They lived in Colorado for 36 years and then moved to Kearney where they currently reside.
LaVern had a great love for his family and a great interest in animals, especially horses. He had worked with horses all of his life.
He is survived by his wife, Darlene; daughter, Gloria Welsh; son, Ron Hixon, all of Kearney; five grandchildren; six great grandchildren; three step great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild; brother, Robert Hixon and his wife, Mildred of Fort Collins, Colo.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, one sister and his son-in-law, Wayne Welsh. He will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him.
