Duane Jorgensen - September 14, 2011

Duane Jorgensen was called to God’s home on Sept. 14, 2011, after a battle with cancer.
He was born to Harold and Marie Jorgensen on Oct. 15, 1938, and grew up in the rural Springview, Neb., area with his sister, Lida (Jones). He attended the University of Nebraska, further establishing his never-ending love for music.
Duane married Kathleen (Heldenbrand) on June 10, 1962, and raised a family of four children.
Duane’s passion, teaching music, touched a number of lives in the communities of Wauneta, Neb., Wilber, Neb., Friend, Neb., and Bassett, Neb., where he taught music for a total of 40 years. He was extremely proud and honored to be the director of the Wilber Alumni Czech Band for 26 years.
He also enjoyed fishing, golfing, helping family during fall harvest, refinishing antique furniture and attending functions involving his children and grandchildren.
Duane is survived by his wife, Kathleen; sister Lida Jones of Columbia, Tenn., children: Kim and husband, Matt Woodward, and Mackenzie of Denton, Neb., Kay and husband Joseph John and children, Amanda and Dustin of Omaha, Neb., Keo Jorgensen and Amy Kenkel and children, Trey, Devon, Benjamin, and Neena of Bennington, Neb., and Dean Jorgensen and wife Ann, and children, Donovan, Cassidy, and Calvin of Bennington, Neb.; two great grandchildren, and a number of cousins, nieces and nephews.
Duane was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Marie Jorgensen.
Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 17, 2011, at St. Andrews United Methodist Church, 15050 West Maple Road, Omaha, Neb.
Memorials may be made to the family.
Arbor Society was in charge of arrangements.
