Dixie Buffington - July 23, 2011

Dixie Lynette Buffington, 68, of Farmington, N.M., passed away on Saturday, July 23, 2011, following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born Nov. 22, 1942, in McCook, Neb., daughter of Richard and Della Shepherd. She attended school in McCook.
Dixie and Roger Buffington were married April 28, 1962. They were blessed with two daughters, born a year apart.
The little family moved to Greeley, Colo., and then to Boulder, Colo., while Roger was employed with Komac Paint.
The family came to Farmington in 1966 and fell in love with the area.
Dixie worked for orthodontist Dr. Steven Clark for 28 years and enjoyed all of the young people who she helped to have a beautiful smile.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Della Shepherd; and brother, Rodney Shepherd.
Dixie is survived by her husband, Roger; daughter Julie (Bob) Kysar of Farmington and Sheri Sands Kimball of Monument, Colo.; grandchildren: Holly and Clay Kysar of Phoenix, Ariz., Molly and Kelsey Sands of Boulder and Katie Kimball of Monument; brother, Dennis (Majel) Shepherd of Skiatook, Okla., sister, Chris Romero of Arvada, Colo., mother-in-law, Laura Buffington of Wauneta, Neb., brothers-in-law, Dennis Buffington of McCook, Neb., and Ray Buffington and wife Vicki of Imperial, Neb.
The Funeral Mass was held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 29 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 414 N. Allen Ave., in Farmington.
