G. Arlene Stinnette, 88, of Hastings, Neb., died Sunday, May 22, 2011, at her home.
Grace Arlene was born Jan. 3, 1923, to Roy and Carria (Redden) Scott at Palisade, Neb. She grew up in the Palisade area and graduated from Palisade High School in 1941.
Arlene married Woodrow (Bill) Stinnette, son of Eva and Iam Stinnette, on Jan. 22, 1942. They lived in Wauneta, Neb., when their children were small.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Hastings since May 11, 1952.
She worked at Woolworth’s for two years, J.C. Penneys for 13 years and ended her career as their first Credit Manager. After retiring, she kept books for S & S Auto Repair for 28 years, retiring again in 2000 at the age of 78.
Arlene enjoyed her home and flower garden, lunch and shopping with friends. She especially enjoyed time boating, swimming and picnics with kids, grandkids and even great grandkids at Harlan County Lake for the last 45 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; one sister, and son-in-law, Johnny Reiners.
Survivors include husband of 69 years, Bill Stinnette of Hastings; children and spouse: Judy Reiners of Juniata, Neb., Randy and Jean Stinnette of Inland, Neb.; grandchildren and spouses: Vonda and Bryan Behrens of Norwich, Kan., Jason and Debra Reiners of Juniata, Neb.; Joshua and Beth Reiners of Lincoln, Neb.; great grandchildren: Daniel Behrens, Anna Behrens, Meagan Reiners, Elisha Reiners, Jonathon Reiners, Caleb Reiners, Kaitlyn Reiners; step great grandsons: Michael Jones, James Jones; five nephews; one niece; many long time friends among those being Lucille McBride of Wauneta, Neb., Roy and Beth Lahr of Hastings and Ruth Roback of Inland, Neb.
There will be private family services.
Livingston-Butler-Volland Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Hastings is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be given to Mary Lanning Hospice.
