Lorena I. Legg - June 02, 2011
Lorena I. Legg, 83, of Wood River, Neb., died Thursday, June 2, 2011 at the Good Samaritan in Wood River.
Services were held Monday at All Faiths Funeral Home Chapel in Grand Island with Daniel Naranjo officiating. Burial was in the Grand Island Cemetery.
Lorena was born July 12, 1927, at Holyoke, Colo., the daughter of Albert and Myrtle (Thomas) Lorimer.
Her husband, Howard Legg, preceded her in death on Nov. 14, 2010.
Survivors are her children and their spouses: Gerald and Sandy Legg of Dannebrog, Neb., John and Judy Legg of Grand Junction, Colo., Sandra and Bob Bolton of Aurora, Neb., and Melvin Legg of Doniphan, Neb.
Other survivors are grandchildren: Shannon, Jacki, Tom, Kristy, Mike, Nicci, and Matt, Kelly and Kim and 17 great grandchildren.
She was welcomed into heaven by her husband; daughter-in-law, Jacquelyn Legg; her parents; brothers: Morris, Forrest, Wilbur and Lawrence and sisters: Dorothy, Hazel, Violet and Marjorie.
Lorena was raised on the family farm in Yuma County, Colorado. She was united in marriage to Howard W. Legg on Feb. 17, 1946. They lived in Wauneta, Neb., for many years before moving to Grand Island in 1967. They then moved to Osceola, Neb., in1985, later returning to Grand Island.
Some of her enjoyments included her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, gardening, canning, raising rat terriers, playing cards and slot machines.
She was a hard worker her whole life and reluctantly, fully retired at the age of 78 due to poor health that she endured for many years.
Memorials are suggested to ‘GRACE’, Grand Island Area Cancer Endowment or the Central Nebraska Humane Society.
