Scot Knudson - April 19, 2011

Scot Lee Knudson, 45, of Humboldt, Neb., was born on Sept. 24, 1965, in Overland Park, Kan., to Wallace and Beth (Hahn) Knudson. He grew up in Schaumburg, Ill., Longmont, Colo., and Palisade, Neb.
Scot attended school in Palisade where he participated in football, basketball, and track. He graduated from Palisade High School with the class of 1984.
After graduating, Scot continued his education at the University of Nebraska at Kearney and later received his Masters Degree from Doane College in Crete, Neb.
On March 21, 1998, Scot was united in marriage to Amanda Faith Jackson at the United Methodist Church in Palisade. To this union three sons, Anthony, Kaleb, and Nicolas, were born.
He began his teaching and coaching career at Wauneta-Palisade High School from 1991-1998. He then took a teaching and coaching position at Humboldt-Table Rock-Steinauer Public Schools. The family lived in Auburn, Neb., while Scot taught school and was the head basketball coach at HTRS. In 2000, Scot coached HTRS to the Nebraska State basketball championship shortly after the two schools consolidated.
Scot and family later moved to Humboldt where he continued to teach, coach basketball, golf, and baseball, and serve as the director of activities.
He was a member of the Christian Church in Humboldt where he served as a deacon. He was a loving father, true role model in the community, and a faithful man that fought a long courageous battle against cancer. Scot passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, April 19, 2011, having reached the age of 45 years, six months, and 26 days.
He was preceded in death by his father, Wallace Knudson.
Scot is survived by his loving wife, Amanda Knudson of Humboldt; sons, Anthony, Kaleb, and Nicolas Knudson of Humboldt; parents Beth and Bill Smith of Palisade; brothers: Kent Knudson and wife Laura of Wauconda, Ill.; Steven Knudson and wife Maureen of Schaumburg, Ill.; Cliff Smith and wife Nancy of Olathe, Kan.; sisters: Sandy and husband LeMoine Ferguson of Holyoke, Colo.; Deb and husband Byron Alberts of Palisade, Neb.; Kellie and husband Richard Miner of Palisade, Neb.; mother-in-law Carol Nelson of Lincoln, Neb.; sister-in-law Amber and husband Jeff Carrel of Beatrice, Neb.; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and loyal friends.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 23, 2011, at The Christian Church in Humboldt, Neb., with Howard Blecha officiating.
Interment was at the Humboldt Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions were suggested to the Scot Knudson Family Fund. An account has been established at any branch of the State Bank of Table Rock locations.
