Kenneth Merle Stuckwisch - January 09, 2011

Kenneth Merle Stuckwisch, son of Henry L. and Hertha (Setzkorn) Stuckwisch, was born on March 5, 1929, in Norfolk, Neb. Ken was baptized on March 8, 1929, and confirmed on May 16, 1943, both at St. John Lutheran Church in Battle Creek, Neb. His confirmation verse was: But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen. 2 Peter 3:18.
He graduated from Battle Creek High School in 1947. During the Korean Conflict, Ken was stationed in Panama and served in the United States Army from March 1951 to March 1953. After the army, Ken worked a variety of jobs. This included working at a creamery in Battle Creek and a harvest crew in Culbertson, Neb. He also worked as a truck driver for the U.S. Postal Service.
Ken met his first wife, Margery Trowbridge, while driving a U.S. Mail truck from Norfolk to Omaha. They were united in marriage on April 17, 1957, and had seven children: Judee, Bill, Lilly, Carolyn, Allen, Flo and Greg.
Ken worked for Security Windows in Omaha and Denver from 1958 through 1981. He moved from Omaha to Denver to manage their branch office. Ken then began managing an apartment complex in Denver from 1981 until he retired in 2004. While in Denver, he married Maria Del Carmen Alvarez on Feb. 14, 1990.
Upon retiring, Ken moved to Wauneta, Neb., where he became a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church.
Ken departed this life to enter into his heavenly home on Sunday, Jan. 9, 2011, at the age of 81 years.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents, wives Margery and Maria, brother Arnold and wife Hazel and brother Alfred and wife Lee, daughter Lilly and husband Doug Nelson, son-in-law Hugh St. Clair.
Survivors include: sons and daughters: Judee St. Clair of Asheville, N.C.; Bill Stuckwisch of Roanoke, Va.; Carolyn Gerber of Las Vegas, Nev.; Al Stuckwisch and wife De of Fort Smith, Ark.; Flo and husband Lance Hofman of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; Greg Stuckwisch and wife Janet of Wauneta, Neb.; step-daughter Karin Solorzano of Desert Hot Springs, Calif.; grandchildren: Kenneth St. Clair and wife Winsor of Salem, Va.; Christopher St. Clair and wife Susannah, Carrie, Courtney and Clayton Stuckwisch, all of Roanoke, Va.; Matt Nelson of North Platte, Neb.; Amanda Gerber of Arvada, Colo.; David and Rachel Stuckwisch, both of Fort Smith, Ark.; Joshua and Malachi Hofman, both of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; Preston and Clara Stuckwisch, both of Wauneta, Neb.; step-grandchildren: Paolo, Carlos and Kathy Solorzano, all of Aurora, Colo.; step-great grandchildren: William and Carly Francisco, both of Salem, Va.; brother Ray Stuckwisch and wife Marilyn of Phoenix, Ariz.; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
The Memorial Service is scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 13, 2011, at 11 a.m. MT in Wauneta, Neb., at Redeemer Lutheran Church. The committal service will be held on Tuesday, May 24, 2011, at 11 a.m. CT at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Omaha, Neb.
Memorials have been designated for the following organizations: the American Legion Post 170 in Tilden, Neb., and Redeemer Lutheran Church in Wauneta, Neb.
