Betty Mintling - May 17, 2010
Betty Marie (Jaycox) Mintling was born Jan. 12, 1926, in Holyoke, Colo., to Bertrand and Beulah (Beam) Jaycox.
Betty attended Pleasant Valley Country School and on June 9, 1949, she married Riley P. Mintling at the Congregational Church in Hayes Center, Neb. To this union, four children, Riley Jr., Penny, Polly and Pamra, were born.
After marriage, the couple first lived in Hayes Center and later moved to Palisade. Neb., in 1956 before settling in Wauneta in 1981. They also lived in Kearney, Neb.
Betty was an avid homemaker and loved raising her children and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She also enjoyed reading and gardening in her spare time.
She was a member of the Palisade United Methodist Church and the Palisade Chapter of the Eastern Star.
Betty passed away Monday night, May 17, 2010, at the Chase County Community Hospital, Imperial. She was 84 years of age.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband Riley in 2002, and daughter Pamra Carlene.
Survivors Include: son: R.J. and wife, Jana, of Wauneta, daughter, Penny and husband, Philip Smith, of Pampa, Texas, daughter, Polly Mintling of Los Osos, Calif.; four grandchildren: Nathan Smith, LisAnne Smith, Ryan Mintling and Rosalind (Mintling) Sheldon; eight great-grandchildren: Alex Smith, Carson Smith, Rylie Mintling, Brandon Mintling, Dylan Weber, Ava Sheldon and Trace Sheldon; sister, Lois Fernstrom of Yakama, Wash., sister, Wanda Jaycox of Sterling, Colo., sister, Alberta and husband, Donnie Karriker, of Cortez, Colo.
A life celebration will be announced at a later date.
