The Wauneta Breeze
The Wauneta Breeze recently welcomed a new staff member. Shelby Cox, a Wauneta native, joined the Breeze crew earlier this month as a production/news staff member.
She grew up in Wauneta, graduating from Wauneta-Palisade High School in 2011.
“I’m excited to be involved in my home town from a news perspective,” said Cox.
Cox will participate in all aspects of the newspaper, but her primary responsibilities will center around helping customers, event photography, setting copy, page and ad design. Eventually, Cox hopes to write feature stories as well.
“Shelby has already proven herself to be a hard worker and fast learner,” said Managing Editor Sheri Hink-Wagner. “I’m impressed with her initiative and ability to pick up new things. She is already a valuable member of the Breeze team.”
Community members will most likely see Cox around town in Wauneta and Palisade as she covers area events. Customers will hear her smiling voice on the phone when they call the office.
Cox is an active member of the Wauneta and Palisade communities. She has served as the WP track throwing coach for five years.
She is a second generation Breeze staff member. Her mother, Kerry Miller, worked for the Breeze for 10 years.
Cox lives in Palisade with her husband, Joe, and their two children—Alicyn, 3, and Jase, 1. Joe is employed by the BNSF Railway.
