Village board members approved expansion of the water system improvement project at a special meeting Monday.
BSB Construction is currently in town completing part B of the water system improvement projects. The current project, which was previously approved by the board, includes installation of a six-inch water main on North Railway Street from Center Street to Shawnee Avenue.
David Blau and Tyson Bardsley with Miller and Associates together with Village Superintendent Bill Bischoff presented information about a possible expansion of the project to the board.
The expansion, Part C of the project, will continue installation of the six-inch water main another block, from Shawnee Avenue to Arapahoe Avenue on North Railway Street.
Bischoff explained the project needed to be done this year, and that BSB Construction has time to complete the project now while they are already in town. He indicated completion of the project will save the village mobilization fees if it is completed now.
After discussion, the board approved the $35,465 bid to include the expansion. The work is expected to be completed in the next two or three weeks.
