The Chase County Fair captured another star to add to the long list of country stars who have appeared at the fair.
Fair board Entertainment Chair Alex McNair announced this week that the fair has signed country star Jake Owen.
He will perform on Friday, Aug. 19.
McNair said the fair board is really excited to be bringing a performer of Owen’s caliber.
“Barefoot Blue Jean Night”
Owen ascended to stardom with five No. 1 smash hits. The 2011 title track to his third album, “Barefoot Blue Jean Night,” gave him his first No. 1 single, with the album going Double Platinum.
He followed that up with another No. 1 single off the album, “Alone with You.”
Two more singles from the album, “The One That Got Away” and “Anywhere with You,” both reached number one on the Country Airplay chart.
Owen’s latest hit “Real Life” released to rave reviews with Entertainment Weekly hailing the progressive song as “infectious.”
The RCA Nashville recording artist is currently in the studio with award-winning producers Shane McAnally and Ross Copperman, working on his fifth studio album due out in 2016.
The upcoming project follows his 2013 album, “Days of Gold.”
In 2009, he was named Top New Male Vocalist by the Academy Of Country Music. In 2012, he was received the American Country Awards title for Breakthrough Artist of the Year.
He has also earned Grammy and Teen Choice Award nominations.
Known for his thrilling performances and laid-back style of country, Owen is just coming off his run on Kenny Chesney’s “Big Revival” Tour 2015.
Classic Rock act planned
McNair said the fair is working on completing contract negotiations for a Classic Rock act for Saturday, Aug. 20.
He said the board will make that announcement as soon as all details are finalized.
