Little Jayce Thomas Bialas is a long way from home, but surrounded by loved ones. He is the first baby born at Chase County Community Hospital (CCCH) in 2016, and is the son of Tony Bialas and Rachel Wessels of Newman Grove.
Jayce was born at 6:11 a.m. Jan. 27. He weighs 6 lbs. 5 oz. and is 19 inches long.
The reason he was born in Imperial and not in northeast Nebraska is because his mother and siblings were living with her parents, Marian and Brad Blum, in Wauneta during the last few months of pregnancy.
“I started with doctors here and didn’t want to change,” Rachel said.
Father Tony was back working in Lindsay for the Farmers Coop. His parents are Paul and Kathy Bialas of Fullerton.
Jayce’s siblings have been attending the Wauneta-Palisade Schools. They will be transferring back to Newman Grove Schools.
They are Luke, 9; Austin, 8; Jackson, 6; Tayton, 3, and Kyleigh, 2.
Rachel said she was scheduled for a Cesarean birth Feb. 1. However, her labor began Jan. 26.
She said Jayce has dark hair like his siblings, and weighs about what they did when born.
“He’s perfect,” she commented. “Breathtaking,” Tony added.
The attending physician was Dr. Jonathan Richman.
As the first baby born in 2016 at CCCH, Jayce will receive a number of gifts from area businesses.
