It was another tough week for the Wauneta-Palisade wrestlers, doubly so as the team has meets on Friday and Saturday.
“Wrestling back-to-back is always tough, but I liked the effort and focus I saw out of everyone,” said coach Chad Cochran. “With districts next week already, that focus is a big part of getting in the correct mind set.”
Cochran said Colton Barrett is still adjusting to the move from 106 pounds to the 126-pound class.
“I was pleased to see him bounce back from a few losses and still wrestle hard,” said Cochran, adding that Barrett wrestled on of his better matches of the season at Arapahoe. Barrett added two wins to his record last week.
Cochran was also pleased to see Willis Christner pick up a pin at the Arapahoe meet, saying it was a moral boost for the wrestler.
Saturday, WP will wrap up its regular season at the Southwest Invite.
Cochran said the meet will just as competitive as the rest of the season has been.
Districts will be held Feb. 12-13.
