Home maintenance is expensive. The Village of Wauneta and Southwest Nebraska Community Betterment Coorporation (SWNCBC) would like to help qualified homeowners in Wauneta perform needed maintenance on their homes.
The Village and SWNCBC are now accepting applications for the Owner Occupied Rehabilitation (OOR) program in Wauneta.
The program allows qualified homeowners to complete extensive renovation projects. At this time, funding is available to provide up to $25,000 each in renovations to six Wauneta homes. As of Friday, all six slots were available.
The program, made available through a cooperative effort between the village and SWNCBC, provides for renovation to homes within the Wauneta village limits using funding provided by the Nebraska Department of Economic Development.
The OOR program supplies homeowners living at a moderate- to low-income level a financial resource to complete renovation work such as new windows, doors, siding, roofing, heating systems and insulation.
Assistance is given in the form of a 10-year, zero-percent interest “forgivable loan.” Program participants are not required to make repayment so long as they maintain the property as their primary residence.
Applications will be accepted through Monday, Feb. 8. For more information or to apply contact the Village office at (308) 394-5390 or SWNCBC at (308) 352-4338.
