Dec. 29, 2005

Sara Behrends led her fifth and sixth grade music students with a group of instrumentalists including Matthew Holmes, D-Ray Hunt, Cody Hicks and Emily Johnston who took center stage at the Palisade Attendance Center. Kindergartners through second grade youngsters showed they know how to belt out a song. The youngsters were Isabell Sheets, Hayley Kirk, Haylee Dike, Cody Barrett, Caleb Erikson and Dharma Malcolm.

The Carl and Patsy Williams home took first place in the Heritage of Wauneta Christmas Lighting Contest. Terry and Raina Lasater’s home was named the second-place winner.

Dec. 27, 1990

Dennis Pfeiffer, a well-known Chase County rancher and farmer, was named to the county Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Committee by delegates to the county ASCS convention held Dec. 13 in Imperial.

Dec. 30, 1965

Bethel No. 43 of Job’s Daughters held open installation Monday evening installing Vonna Jo Moody as the new Honored Queen, Susan Skelton as Senior Princess and Susan Hoff as Junior Princess. Judy Hoff served as Installing Recorder. During the ceremony, Bob Kitt sang “The Lord’s Prayer,” accompanied by Gladys Hoff at the piano. Following installation, a musical program was presented by Pat Kitt, Diana Krausnick, and Claudia Bosley.

75 years ago this week

Dec. 24, 1940

Mrs. A.W. Hoff was hostess to the Woman’s Club Thursday afternoon and also presided at the business meeting. Following the lesson, the silver cake lunch was served by Mrs. Bud Frasier and Mrs. Hoff. Mrs. Joe Smuckler drew the dime which signified that she would assist with the lunch at the next meeting which will be held at the home of Mrs. Edith Krausnick on January 2.

100 years ago this week

Dec. 30, 1915

Mrs. Fanning left Tuesday for Tecumseh to visit at James Miner’s.

Leonard Hansen’s house burned to the ground last Friday with all contents while he was to town.

Elexas Hanna and Mrs. Jane Hanna will go to Indiana next week on a visit.
