Chuck Eberhardt of Imperial has been transferred to Lincoln and now faces federal charges on alleged possession of child pornography.

Eberhardt, 56, was scheduled for a preliminary hearing in Chase County District Court July 29, but the state’s charges were dismissed with prejudice after he was indicted on federal charges.

A Grand Jury was convened in federal court and indicted Eberhardt on two counts of being in possession of child pornography, which are violations of Title 18 of the U.S. Code. His hearing in Lincoln was July 29.

Eberhardt was arrested at his home in Imperial June 2 by members of the Code Task Force headquartered in North Platte. The Task Force includes officers with the FBI, Nebraska State Patrol and North Platte Police Dept.

He had worked as a Chase County dispatcher since November 1994.

He was transferred the day of his arrest to the Red Willow County Jail, where he had been housed until last week.

Chase County Sheriff Kevin Mueller said Red Willow County officers took Eberhardt to North Platte July 28. He was picked up the next day by federal authorities, who transferred him to Lincoln.
