Though there weren’t flowers in the pots on July 1, the new Chase County Fair expo building should be finished this week.
Rockwell Construction of Wray, Colo., oversaw the project with Koellner Construction beginning dirt work in March and the final touches, counter tops, are anticipated to be in place this week.
With the completion of the 60- by 110-foot building Chase County Commissioners Dave Hogsett, Chuck Vette and Don Weiss, Jr. were joined by fair board members Chad Oxford and Kelly Beard to discuss payback options. The fair board plans on using its benefactor fund to cover the majority of costs, with the remainder being borrowed from the county.
While a petty cash draw had been discussed, Weiss said he preferred using benefactor funds.
A payback schedule will be brought back to the commissioners following a fair board meeting.
—A request for the Region II Human Services Interlocal participation shares was approved. Chase County will pay its annual share of $12,665.07 on a quarterly basis.
—Commissioners also approved a Subgrant agreement between Chase County and the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services Child Support Enforcement Program.
Agreements between the DHHS and the district court and the county attorney help provide Chase County reimbursement for child support work.
The next meeting of the Chase County Commissioners will be July 28 at 8:00 a.m.
