Next weekend, June 12-14, Palisade is the place to be for family fun with a flurry of activities planned throughout the weekend for the annual Palisade Pioneer Days festivities. This year’s Pioneer Days theme is “Born and Raised On It.”
Highlights from this year’s event lineup include the triennial Palisade High School alumni banquet, which will begin at 5:30 p.m. CT on Friday at the Palisade Attendance Center Gymnasium.
This year’s honor years at the alumni banquet will be those that end in “5” between 1940 and 1990.
Saturday will feature a full day of events. The parade is set for 10:00 a.m. CT down Main Street. The Grand Marshals for this year’s parade are Gerald Bridgman and Ethel Bridgman.
Palisade Pioneer Days committee member Kaila Kressin said the Bridgmans were chosen as grand marshals because they have lived in Palisade for many years and Gerald is a Palisade alumnus. He has also been a member of the Palisade Pioneer Days committee for approximately 10 years, helping put together the Sunday events each year.
After Saturday’s parade, downtown will be busy with a variety of things to do and see.
The second annual Show and Shine car show will be held Saturday afternoon. The show is set to start after the parade, with the award presentation set for 3 p.m. CT. Those who would like to register may do so by calling Andrew Ward at (308) 350-0289 or at Bud’s Tire Repair, Inc. in Palisade.
Saturday evening will feature the community barbecue starting at 5:30 p.m. CT at Krotter Park.
Saturday evening will conclude with a performance by Brett Alan and the CRB Band at Krotter Park. The country rock and blues band got its start in 2006 and released its first album earlier this year, “Brett Alan and the CRB Band.”
Palisade Pioneer Days committee members include Larissa Gerhartz, Andrew Ward, Kaila Kressin and Dan Schluckebier.
A full schedule of events for Palisade Pioneer Days will be included in next week’s Breeze.
