Area youth rank high in State Fair results, WP’s Towery and Skow grand champs PDF Print E-mail

Area youth brought home high ranking honors at the Nebraska State Fair.

Lesley Towery, a senior at Wauneta-Palisade Schools,  earned Best of Show in the companion animal show as well as grand champion in the cat division and grand champion in the companion animal division.

Towery has been showing her cat, DC, a rescue animal from the McCook Humane Society for five years.

Reagan Skow, a freshman at Wauneta-Palisade Schools competed in the State Fair’s FFA competition. At the end of the week she earned several awards including Top Freshman FFA Showmanship in the beef division. Skow also earned grand champion and reserve champion in angus heifers as well as grand champion in commercial-continental heifers.

A half Simmental/half Angus yearling bull shown by Regan Gittlein, a junior at Chase County Schools, was chosen the Supreme Champion Bull at the fair’s FFA breeding show.

In earlier competition that week, Gittlein’s entry was named grand champion yearling bull, then advanced to the final competition where he competed with other divisional champions, eventually earning the Supreme Bull title.

Regan’s brother, Brady, earned reserve grand champion honors for his Simmental heifer at the State Fair.
