This year’s Chase County Fair Parade is shaping up to be a big one.
When counting the 20 semis and 60 corvettes already planning on taking part (and more from other vehicle shows at the fair), along with 21 other entries, the Chamber of Commerce parade committee will be busy for the Saturday, Aug. 16, parade through downtown Imperial.
In addition, with a mid-year election in November, three candidates are already confirmed for the parade, said Jana Pribbeno, who is receiving entries for the Chamber.
“There are more entries showing up every day now,” she said.
So far, candidates confirmed to be here for the parade are Dan Hughes of Venango, seeking the Dist. 44 state legislative seat; Jim Jenkins of Callaway, a non-partisan candidate for U.S. Senate; and Democrat Mark Sullivan of Doniphan, seeking the 3rd District seat in Congress.
Categories of participation are organizations, religious, business/professional, equestrian and open class.
Entries need to be in place by 8:30 a.m. with judging starting at 9 a.m. First and second place winners in each category will win Chamber Bucks, with an overall Grand Champion also chosen.
An entry form appears in this newspaper issue or can also be picked up at The Imperial Republican office, Fine Things Jewelry & Gifts, Imperial grocery and liquor stores and all Imperial banks. The Wauneta Breeze also has forms in Wauneta.
