Special fly-over starts Poppe Johnson Memorial Tourney PDF Print E-mail

Twenty-four teams took to the Enders Lake Golf Course on Saturday for the Amanda Poppe Johnson Memorial Tournament.

Prior to the 10 a.m. shotgun start, players in the four-person scramble gathered as Amanda’s dad, Craig Poppe, welcomed them to the tournament, followed by prayer and a moment of silence led by Andy Bauman of Parker, Colo.

Soon after, as the teams got to their carts to start play, two spray planes from Aerial Farm Services LLC of Imperial flew low over the course, side-by-side, leaving behind a trail of smoke.

Family and friends enjoyed the day of golf and also competed for various flag prizes.

After the golfing was complete, Enders Lake Golf Course staff provided a meal after which flight and skin winners were announced. Winners of donated door prizes were announced during the meal. Results of the tournament are as follows:

Championship Flight

1. Rod Beemer, Paula Poppe, Joel Poppe, Kyle Poppe, 31-31=62; 2. Todd Menghini, Leland Poppe and Dan and Teresa Russell, 31-35=66.

First Flight

1. Derek and Jennifer Stafford, Shane Anderson, Joey Woofter, 33-33=66; 2. (tie) Jarod, Bronson and Derek Burge, Calvin Dahlkoeter, 33-34=67; Curtis Johnson, Rod Johnson, Craig and Evonne Poppe, 34-33=67; Eric and Linsay Moreland, Geoff and Jennifer Beemer, 34-33=67.

Second Flight

1-2. (tie) Luke Jablonski, Dustin Jablonski, Alex Marshall, Kerry Shinn 35-32=67; Alan Carman, Brian Carman, Tom Weiss, Scott Parker, 35-32=67; 3. Joe Johnston, Mandi Kramer, Dave and Ashley Spahn, 35-34=69.

Third Flight

1. Max and Tonda McGarr, Joe and Jeanie Weiss, 36-33=69; 2. Johnny Miller, Diane Mathews, Earl and Beth Loop, 37-34=71; 3. (tie) Dave and Candy Schilke, Larry and Diann Schilke, 36-37=73; Blake, Alex, Alan Poppe, Rob Fisher, 37-36=73.
