The Wauneta-Palisade cheerleaders teamed up with employees from the Alco store in Imperial to hold a fundraiser for the victims of the tornados in Pilger. The fundraiser consisted of a hot dog lunch sponsored by Pepsi and organized by the employees of Alco and a car wash organized by the WP cheerleaders. Above, Christi Christner and Ayla Rector wash a pickup during the June 28 event.
Many hands came together to make the event a success. The Alco store and its employees donated food and supplies for the hot dog feed. The Eagles in Imperial donated a portion of the hot dog buns used at the event. Rowley Welding in Imperial supplied balloons and White Noise provided music for the event.
WP cheerleaders raised $200 at their car wash, $100 of which will be sent to those impacted by the tornados in Pilger. The remaining funds raised will be used to support WP cheerleading expenses. Alco raised nearly $900 from their hot dog lunch and donations. A total of nearly $1,000 will be sent to the Midwest Bank of Pilger. (Sheri Hink-Wagner | The Wauneta Breeze)
