Abbie Fanning placed second in the 200 meter dash and Wes Anderjaska second in the 800 meter run to earn berths in the State Track Meet this week.
Bronco coach Dawn Doetker said it was a bittersweet day.
“Landon (Jutten) just missed going in the high jump by one miss. Hannah (Nordhausen) just missed going by 2 feet and Abbie in the 100 (by 0.1 second),” she said.
Doetker added that it is great to see the hard work of seniors Fanning and Anderjaska pay off.
WP had six personal records set at the meet. Five girls placed in five events and the boys placed in four events.
Besides the 800, Anderjaska was fifth in the 1600 meter run.
Jutten was third in the high jump.
Gage Crowell was eighth in the shot put.
Lesley Towery was fifth in the 400 meter dash and 800 meter run. Sydnee Harchelroad was sixth in the 400.
Nordhausen was third and Tailor Lee fifth in the discus.
Fanning was third in the 100 meter dash.
Personal bests at the meet were Nicole Strand, discus; Landon Jutten, high jump; Ellie Lee, 200; Brody Nordhausen, 400 and 800; and Lesley Towery, 400.
Fanning and Anderjaska will compete Friday and Saturday in Omaha.
