The Wauneta-Palisade track team wrapped up the regular season with an appearance at the Dundy County-Stratton Twilight on Friday.
Placing for the Broncos were Abbie Fanning, sixth in the 100 meter dash; Sydnee Harchelroad, fourth in the 400 meter dash; Hannah Nordhausen, fourth in the discus; Wes Anderjaska, second in the 800 meters; Landon Jutten fifth in the high jump and the boys 4x400 team of Anderjaska, Jutten, Brody Nordhausen and Gage Crowell, fourth.
“It was a tough meet for the girls,” said coach Dawn Doetker. “We need to stay positive and focus on Districts. I’m very proud of the boys and girls, they have been working hard. This meet seemed to have a lot harder competition for the girls this year. The boys had a great day.”
Earlier in the week, on Tuesday, Anderjaska and Harchelroad traveled to Sutherland for the Best of the Midwest meet.
Harchelroad was fourth in the 400 meters and Anderjaska second in the 800 meters.
Both times were PR’s according to Doetker, who added that both had great runs.
Personal bests at the Twilight included Ellie Lee and Sydnee Harchelroad in the 200 meter dash, Brody Nordhausen in the 400 meter dash and Lesley Towery in the 800 meter run.
The District D9 meet was in Bertrand Wednesday. Other teams participating were Bertrand, Elwood, Eustis-Farnam, Hayes Center, Hitchcock County, Loomis, Maywood, Medicine Valley and Southwest.
The State Track Meet will be May 23 and 24.
