The Wauneta-Palisade Broncos’ track teams reached the mid-point of the season with the Sutherland Invitational Thursday.
Wes Anderjaska led the team with first place finishes in the 800 and 1600 meter runs. His 1600 meter time of 5:00.6 was a personal record.
Though coach Dawn Doetker says the team is still getting in shape for some events, Anderjaska is right where he needs to be.
Placing for the girls’ team was Abbie Fanning in the 100 meters, Sydnee Harchelroad in the 800 meters, Tailor Lee in the shot put and Hannah Nordhausen in the discus.
Personal bests for the meet were Ellie Lee in the 200, Brody Nordhausen in the 400, Nicole Strand and Chris Carl in the discus, and the boys’ 4x400 meter relay with members Anderjaska, Landon Jutten, Gage Crowell and Nordhausen. Crowell’s time in the relay was also a PR.
“The kids have great attitudes,” said Doetker. “We still need to continue working hard.”
After attending the Hayes Center Invitational Wednesday in McCook, the Broncos will travel to Bertrand for the RPAC Meet Friday, May 2.
The regular season will wrap up with the Dundy County-Stratton Twilight Friday, May 9, then the District meet in Bertrand Wednesday, May 14.
The State Track Meet will be May 23 and 24.
