Scouts of Troop 1 held their Blue and Gold Banquet Saturday evening which also included the pinewood derby races. Members of the different packs raced against each other and then winners of each pack raced. The overall winner was Jacob Maris, second place went to Landen Lawless and Cody Critchfield was third. Best overall looking car honors went to C. J. Hackney.
Josh Hoffman of Wauneta-Palisade joined seven Chase County High School students at a FFVF Banquet in Imperial last week. Each student talked on their experiences on their trip to Valley Forge, Pa.
A. J. and Anna Knickerbocker were dinner guests of Rod and Joy Wheeler Monday which was their 59th wedding anniversary.
A Dedication Service was held at the Hamlet Union Church Sunday. Couples having their babies dedicated were Robin and Mike Hanna with son Garrett; Renee and Marty Wheeler and Maycee; Tiffany and Mike Bley with Kendra and Sarah and Aaron Behrends with Olivia. A dinner followed the service.
Brennan Keiser and Cade Burrell were confirmed in the Sunday morning service at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. A pot luck dinner for them and Aaron Keiser who will be a high school graduate followed the service with family and friends attending.
Ila Widger, Doris Ough, Lucille McBride and Ruby Ham accompanied Diana Ham to Stratton Sunday evening to attend the Easter Cantata, “Walk Worthy,” presented by singers from community churches held at the Christian Union Church.

Lots of laughs and good times stand out most in the memories of Lue Carlson as she looked back over her past 90 years. Born in Iowa she recalled early school days, graduation, attending Boyles Business College and working. She and her husband, Dr. Robert Carlson, moved to the area in 1925 where he worked with Dr. George Hoffmeister in Imperial and then to Wauneta in 1926 when he bought Dr. Farr’s practice. They raised three children: Minnie Ellen, Roberta Lee and James.
WHS students won grand champion honors in their division at the Mid Plains Community College Inter-High Contest March 28. This is the second year in a row Wauneta has claimed the top place. Earning first place were Janel Applegarth, Dan Taylor, Brenda Breese, Rod Haarberg, Cindy Cameron, Wayne Krausnick, Lisa Wilson and Kory Kitt.Some also placed second and third in other tests.
Mr. and Mrs. Harlan Stock returned Friday from their winter home in Apache Junction, Ariz.
Judy and Rudy Evers and Anita and Mert Smith of Seward attended the Ak-Sar-Ben performances of Henry Mancini and Rich Little in Omaha over the weekend.
Mr. and Mrs. Dale Baney returned from a visit with the Richard Baney family at Longview, Texas, and the Dalend and Rocky Baney families in Tulsa, Okla. Delorse enjoyed a quilt show where one display consisted of 100 quilts made by one lady with a quilt for each of the states among them.
Mr. and Mrs. Mick Brunkhorst and family, LeeRoy Weimer and Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Brunkhorst attended the confirmation service for Brian Vogler at Trinity Lutheran Church in Palisade Sunday. The Lynn Brunkhorsts, Joyce and Del Richter, Brian and Mark were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Herb Busking.

E. N. Berry, Dwight Hoff and Jack Maddux were elected to the Village Board Tuesday with 195 Waunetans going to the polls.
Wauneta was host to the second meeting of the Chase County Historical Society with 57 members attending.
In spite of muddy roads, 153 friends and relatives helped Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Gauger celebrate their 25th anniversary at an open house held at the Legion Hall.
Mr. and Mrs. Worth Kanost, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Lewis and Mr. and Mrs. Victor Wicke surprised Mr. and Mrs. Paul Greeley of Lamar on their wedding anniversary Sunday afternoon.
Mr. and Mrs. Jim Taylor, accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Bob Kitt, went to Broken Bow and attended the Outstanding Young Farmers Banquet Saturday evening.

Carl Bartels left April 1 for Elk Creek, Neb., to attend a reunion at the Lutheran Church of the confirmation classes of 1871 to 1896. Mr. Bartels was a member of the class of ’82. A large crowd attended the service.
Mrs. Joseph Vlasin Sr., celebrated her 79th birthday on Easter Sunday at the home of her son, Frank Vlasin, and family with family and friends in attendance.
Mr. and Mrs. Levi Mohler of Rocky Ford, Colo., spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. I. G. Mohler and Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Thomas.
Mr. and Mrs. Leon Athey spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Ray Stinnette at Julesburg.
The senior class observed “Sneak Day” Monday, driving to Greeley, Colo., where they spent the day. The class was accompanied by sponsor Ted Holtz.

Cold all week - Tuesday night was only 12 above, ice forming each night, causing the coal dealers to smile.
The village election passed off very quietly Tuesday with the following elected: H. E. Athey, B. G. Bailey, James Burham, H. R. Collins and W. H. Brannon.
Henry, William and Minnie Bischoff spent Sunday with Wm. Haarbergs.
John Bischoff and family took dinner with Henry Schuttes Sun.
Wauneta high school baseball team journeyed to Hamlet last Saturday where they were trimmed by the Hamlet team.
