The Wauneta American Legion Hall was bustling with activity Saturday evening, March 22 when the Wauneta Boy and Girl Scout troops hosted an appreciation chili supper for the community.
Close to 100 community members attended the event where the Scouts served chicken noodle soup, chili, cinnamon rolls and desserts. Freewill donations at the event added up to $417 before expenses. The funds, in addition to those earned from cookie and popcorn sales, will be used to help fund community outreach opportunities, camps for the kids and for the betterment of the village.
The Girl Scout troop sang a song for their audience and introduced themselves. Three lucky attendees left with one of the three door prizes of the evening, which consisted of boxes of Girl Scout cookies and Boy Scout popcorn.
The Girl Scouts also offered boxes of cookies left over from their recent cookie sales to the audience. There were still a few boxes left after the event, so if you missed out (or need more) call one of the Scouts.
