The Village of Wauneta along with Southwest Nebraska Community Betterment Corporation are leading a cooperative effort to provide some needed renovation to homes within the incorporated community of Wauneta using funding provided by the Nebraska Department of Economic Development.
The housing program, referred to as Owner Occupied Rehab, provides families living at a moderate to low income level who own their homes a financial resource to complete renovation work such as new windows, doors, siding, roofing, heating systems and insulation.
The dollar amount of assistance is a “forgivable loan” with no repayment necessary as long as the families maintain the property as their primary residence over the next 10 years at 0 percent interest.
Families can qualify for assistance through the Village of Wauneta and SWNCBC allowing extensive renovation projects to be accomplished on their homes. At this time, funding is available for six families to receive up to $24,500 in housing assistance.
Applications are being accepted for this rehabilitation program from Jan. 2, 2014, until Feb. 4, 2014, any applications received after Feb. 4, 2014, will not be eligible for this round of OOR funds.
For more information or an application, contact the Village of Wauneta’s Clerk’s Office at (308) 394-5390 or Southwest Nebraska Community Betterment Corporation at (308) 352-4338.
