Four seniors to
lead deep Lady

With seven returning letterwinners on the roster, the WP Lady Broncos will look to better last seaon’s 18-7 record and trip to the state tournament in 2013-14.
Returning from the All-RPAC West Team are seniors Abbie Fanning and Tailor Lee. Brooklyn Nordhausen and Cassidy Rathe round out the senior class.
Fanning and Lee, in their second year as starters, led last season’s team with just over 11 points each per contest. Nordhausen also started and provided a presence in the paint. She averaged 4.5 points.
Coach Betsy Johanson has said Fanning is the absolute leader of the team in words and actions.
Lee came on late last season and Johanson credited her as being a force to be reckoned with.
Fanning and Lee were Honorable Mention All-State in Class D2 last season.
Juniors Brianna Einspahr and Sydnee Harchelroad were awarded All-RPAC honorable mention.
Einsphar, a “jack of all trades,” also started for the Broncos and averaged 6.5 points. As a guard, Harchelroad came off the bench to score an average of 5.6 points.
Hannah Nordhausen also lettered for the Broncos.
The Lady Broncos will have a chance to face all four subdistrict opponents, Hayes Center, Hitchcock County, Maywood and Wallace, during the season, plus district competitor Paxton. Southwest will host the Broncos’ subdistrict.

Following an 13-11 2012-13 campaign and trip to the state tournament, the WP Broncos will look to rebuild in 2013-2014 behind seniors Wes Anderjaska and Hayden Pollmann. The pair started every game in last season with Anderjaska averaging 8.8 points and Pollmann 9.6 points on the season.
Anderjaska made a team high 39 three pointers, while averaging 4.9 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 2.5 steals per contest.
Pollmann, second team All-RPAC West, made 31 three’s and added 2.4 rebounds, 2 assists and 1.1 steals in 2012-13.
Pollmann and Anderjaska were Honorable Mention All-State Class D2 last season.
Senior Lorenzo Cavanaugh and sophomore Chase Rathe also lettered last season for the Broncos. Cavanaugh played in 10 games, while Rathe saw action in 11.
The team also has senior Landon Jutten returning from an injury which sidelined him much of 2012-13.
Rounding out the team are juniors Chris Carl and Tom McGraw, sophmore Paul Behrends and freshmen Brody Nordhausen and Tyler Davis.
The Broncos’ schedule include a trip to C1 Chase County, plus home games against C2 schools Southern Valley, Perkins County and Dundy County-Stratton. The Broncos will also face subdistrict opponents Hayes Center, Hitchcock County, Maywood and Wallace. Paxton, from subdistrict D2-10, is also on WP’s schedule. Southwest High School will host the Broncos’ subdistrict.
