The team of Nicole Strand, Landon Jutten, Cassidy Rathe and Tailor Lee placed first in the Natural Resources category Thursday, Nov. 21, at the District XI FFA Contest.

Rathe led the group with a fifth place finish. Strand was right behind in sixth place. Lee finished 11th and Jutten 17th.

Their score of 209 was 10 points better than second place. They were 26 points better than the average score.

Nine teams total competed.

FFA sponsor Marilyn Houdek took ten students to the competition. Besides the four in Natural Resources, Lesley Towery, Cameo Rector, Tryssta Duvel, Joe Sramek, Ellie Lee and Billy Straub participated in Livestock Judging.

In the senior division, Towery finished 21st out of 44 competitors. Houdek was pleased with Towery’s finish, saying it was tough for Towery to get around while on crutches.

In the junior division, Rector led the way, finishing 25th out of 104.

Twenty-four teams competed and WP finished 18th.

The Nebraska State FFA Convention will be held in Lincoln this spring.
