Law enforcement officers arrested an Imperial man Thursday, Nov. 7 for allegedly possessing child pornography.
Colter Parks, 27, a resident at Imperial’s Sunrise Apartments, has been charged with two counts of visual depiction of sexually explicit conduct, which has a child as one of its participants or portrayed observers.
Officers with the Imperial Police Department, North Platte Police Department and investigators with the Attorney General’s office executed a search warrant and made the arrest at Parks’ apartment.
Parks is being held on bond in the Chase County jail. His arraignment is set for Wednesday, Nov. 13.
According to Imperial Interim Police Chief Ryan Wisnieski, Parks moved to Imperial in October. He had previously lived in North Platte.
Wisnieski said they confiscated a laptop computer and several cell phones during their search and subsequent arrest.
He said Lt. Steve Reeves of the North Platte Police Department also participated in the arrest.
Reeves said Tuesday he had been monitoring suspected child porn activity over a period of several months while Parks still lived in North Platte.
He said Parks had lived in North Platte for six years or so before moving to Imperial in October.
He had no jurisdiction in Imperial so he asked for assistance from the Rural Cybercrime Unit (RCU) of the Attorney General’s office, which has statewide jurisdiction.
Reeves said the RCU had also been monitoring Parks’ computer activities.
Reeves said child pornography charges will likely be filed against Parks in Lincoln County as well as a result of his investigation.
