When Styx takes the stage at the Chase County Fair Aug. 16, someone will have the opportunity to win an autographed guitar.

Styx is partnering with Community Action Partnership of Mid-Nebraska to raise money for Styx’ ROCK to the Rescue Charitable Foundation.

According to Meredith Collins of Community Action Partnership, 75 percent of the money raised from the $10/ticket raffle will go to the Foundation, whose mission is to “build strong, healthy communities through the support of grassroots organizations across the country.”

ROCK to the Rescue was formed in 2002 to help the families of victims of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

Twenty-five percent of the profits will go to Community Action Partnership, to be used “to support our homeless prevention program which helps provide rental and utility assistance for individuals and families in Chase and surrounding counties.”

Collins said her agency serves 27 counties, with a coordinator in McCook who handles rental and housing requests.

The lack of rental and sale homes in the area “is an issue we’re seeing across Nebraska,” Collins noted. She said her agency partners with “whoever we need to” in the area to find such housing for those in need.

The agency works to provide needed programs that enhance economic, education, health and nutritional security for individuals and families.

Collins said her staff will be dressed in teal t-shirts during the concert to sell the tickets for the guitar. She noted that the winner must be present at the concert to accept the guitar.
