The Wauneta-Palisade football team met last week to prepare for the football season.
Fourteen players reported to the camp. Coach Randy Geier said he and coach Joseph Frecks are hoping to gain a few more players when practice officially starts on Aug. 12.
Geier said the camp went well.
“We have a great group of guys who worked hard and are determined to have a great season,” he said.
After checking out equipment, the group worked on different schemes to adapt to the talent on this year’s team.
“As coaches this is a fun time of year to see how much each player has developed and matured since the end of last season,” Geier said.
He added that after last year’s experiences in the six-man game, he and Frecks are more prepared for this season.
“We are very excited to start the season,” he said.
The team will get together in the coming week for a youth camp where younger players will have a chance to work on some basic fundamentals and run drills.
The season’s first game will be Aug. 30 at Cody-Kilgore.
