The Village of Wauneta and Southwest Nebraska Community Development Corporation (SWNCBC) announced earlier this week they are seeking public input for a potential housing program.
The Village of Wauneta would like the public’s input on applying for funds through the Nebraska Department of Economic Development for making health, safety and energy renovations to homes in Wauneta.
The housing program, called Owner Occupied Rehab, provides financial resources for renovation work to home owning families with a moderate or low income.
Funds can cover renovations such as new windows, doors, siding, roofing, heating systems and insulation.
The program provides a forgivable loan at 0 percent interest over a period of 10 years.
The village is conducting a survey and will hold a public meeting to determine what the housing needs are within the community.
The survey is available at the village office for homeowners to pick up and complete.
The surveys may be returned to the village office, placed in the payment drop box, or mailed to the Village Office at P.O. Box 95, Wauneta, Neb. 69045. Completed surveys can also be mailed to SWNCBC at P.O. Box 720, Grant, Neb. 69140. Surveys must be completed and returned by July 1, 2013.
The village stated in its news release that all Wauneta homeowners are encouraged to attend the public meeting for this program which will be held at 6:30 p.m. MT/ 7:30 p.m. CT on Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at the Village office.
