Wauneta-Palisade elementary students and teachers enjoyed a presentation Friday afternoon at the Palisade Attendance Center by Roger Lawson from the Middle Republican NRD.
Following a proclamation by Richard Miner, president of the Palisade Tree Board, Lawson spent an hour speaking to students about natural resources.
Students responded to questions about types of natural resources and types of trees before second through sixth graders answered 15 questions as part of a “Tree Olympics”.
Each student was given a pine tree following the presentation.
The program is sponsored by the Palisade Tree Board and meets one of the four requirements for being named a Tree City USA.
Palisade Tree Board members Bill and Beth Smith were also in attendance.
It was Lawson’s sixth year speaking to students at Palisade.
