Twenty Wauneta-Palisade students performed “Back to the 80s...the Totally Awesome Musical” Saturday and Sunday.

Told as a flashback by 30-something Corey Palmer (Landon Jutten), “Back to the 80s” is about the senior class of William Ocean High School.

Secret crushes, class elections and teacher scandals revolved around songs from the 1980s.

W-P students performed 24 songs, including full cast performances of “Man in the Mirror,” (I’ve Had) “The Time of My Life” and “Bows.”

The musical was directed by Aaron Behrends.

Characters included Corey’s high school crush Tiffany Houston (Christi Christner), Tiffany’s crush school jock Michael Feldman (Weylin Davis), school nerd Feargal McFerrin III (Logan Bischoff), new students Mel and Kim Easton (Cassidy Rathe and Taylor Gill) and teachers Mr. Cocker (John Christner) and Miss Sheena Brannigan (Charlotte Pitts).

Crew for the musical included students Emma Skelton, Lorenzo Cavanaugh, Tom McGraw and Donald Hunt.
