Students from Wauneta-Palisade recently traveled to Kearney and Paxton for choir and band performances.
Performing Jan. 28, 10 W-P students participated in the UNK Honor Band and Choral Clinic. John Christner and Donald Hunt performed with the Honor Choir. Charlotte Pitts, Tayler Nordhausen, Jacob Maris and Weylin Davis sang with the Festival Choir. Sydnee Harchelroad and Christi Christner performed with the Women’s Choir. Lorenzo Cavanaugh and Cassidy Rathe played with the Festival Band.
Feb. 4 the school choir traveled to Paxton for the West RPAC music festival. Choirs from Hitchcock County, Dundy County-Stratton, Hayes Center, Wallace and Paxton, as well as W-P, each performed a song then performed as a group.
W-P sang “Turn the World Around” and together the choirs sang “The Star Spangled Banner,” “Americana Songbook,” “Kyrie Eleison,” “In Whatever Time We Have” and “The Battle of Jericho.”
W-P music director Aaron Behrends said it was nice for the kids to participate in a cooperative event for a change, rather than a competitive one.
