|W-P speech team travels to Sutherland|

The Wauneta-Palisade speech team’s season continued Feb. 2 with an invitational at Sutherland.
The Broncos placed seventh out of 12 teams.
Perkins County finished first at the event with 51 points. Four points separated fifth place Paxton and seventh place W-P.
The Oral Interpretation of Drama team picked up its second third place finish. Team members include Leiauna Alberts, Cassidy Rathe, Ellie Lee, Cameo Rector and Nicole Strand. The team finished in a tie for first after the preliminary rounds, but was three points out of first after the finals.
Cody Hicks and Landon Jutten finished third in the Duet Acting category.
Christi Christner, Donald Hunt and Rathe participated in the Serious Prose category. Christner placed fourth.
Tom McGraw placed fourth in Informative Speaking and Jutten was sixth in Entertainment.
Hicks also did Extemporaneous speaking and Hunt and Rector did Humorous Prose.
After leaving at 4:45 a.m. to get to Sutherland, the team’s early mornings will continue when the bus leaves at 4:45 a.m. to go to North Platte for the Blue and Gold Invitational Saturday. The team will also be at Maywood for the RPAC meet Wednesday, Feb. 13.
