Bronco wrestler Gage Crowell went 1-4 last week with matches at Medicine Valley Friday and Arapahoe Saturday.
The Medicine Valley Invitational featured 18 teams and tough competition, according to coach Chad Cochran. Crowell went 0-2 at the meet losing to Gideon Monette of Mullen and Dalton Refior of Loomis/Bertrand.
Saturday’s tournament at Arapahoe featured four wrestlers in the 160 pound weight class.
In his opening match against Chantz Klein of SEM, Crowell was one second away from picking up the win but received his fourth technical violation of the match and was disqualified.
After defeating Wyatt Schutte of Cozad in his second match, Crowell lost to Arapahoe’s Patrick Gardner. Gardner is ranked fourth in the Class D 160 pound class by the Omaha World Herald.
Crowell has only one more meet before district wrestling, traveling to Southwest Feb. 2. Districts will be held in Sutherland Feb. 8 and 9.
