Chase County Community Hospital hopes to open a medical clinic in Wauneta the first week in February when the present Wauneta Family Practice Associates close the last of January. They will locate in the Wauneta Family Practice Associates’ building on East Wichita Street.

Peco Anderson, manager, and Joyce Bley, assistant manager, officially took over management at Co-op Oil. Anderson served as assistant manager under Wyatt Croft and Richard Greeley before Croft. Bley is the first woman named to a management position in the company’s 72-year history.

Millie Deininger hosted a Christmas coffee Wednesday morning for Viola Krausnick, Violet Long, Doris Ough and Edna Christensen in appreciation for their help and thoughtfulness.

Kelly and Jennifer Kitt, Colin and Molly brought Christmas dinner to the Keith Kitt home Sunday. They were joined by Donnaline Kitt.

John and Frances Lewis and Connie Lewis and Sable were Saturday overnight guests of Mr. and Mrs. Lonnie Lewis at Colorado Springs, Colo.

Sandra and Colin Conklin, Luke and Rebecca of North Branford, Conn., and Mary and Matt Smith, Gabriel, Virgil, Jacob, Jackson and Eva of Walnut Creek, Calif., were weekend through Christmas guests of Jack and Carol Maddux.

Hamlet hosted the annual ladies cookies and coffee a week ago Thursday afternoon and in the evening a soup and pie supper and bingo were held.

Dec. 24, 1987

The Grade School youth’s art work was printed in the Breeze’s Christmas issue with several of the student’s art featured in the local and area businesses’ ads.

Betty Johnson’s Mrs. Clean’s professional service has been utilized in homes and businesses in the area for the past 1 1/2 years. Five ladies currently work for Mrs. Clean with three others having worked in the past.

Susie Graves of Salem, Ore., was an honored guest at a Christmas coffee in the Cecil Steckman home Monday. Friends who came to renew acquaintances were Mabel Scriven, Sylvia Ziegler, Erma Newman, Dorothy O’Neil and Ruby Jones.

Herb and Eulene Busking, Vearl and Lucille McBride and Floyd and Delpha Nordhausen ate out in Imperial Friday evening.

John and Joan Green and Lee Anne of Oxford, Ohio, and Matt of Lincoln were Sunday supper guests of Russ, Lori and Brooke Pankonin.

Esther and Rodney Einspahr, Otis and Beryl Knotwell and Mildred and John Knotwell ate at the Eagles Friday evening as a pre-Christmas get together.

Ted and Carolyn Anderson met the plane in Denver Monday bringing Todd and Cindy Anderson and Tiffany of San Bernadino, Calif., to spend the holidays with family.

Dec. 27, 1962

The fourth grade, represented by King Kirby Kitt and Queen Melody Sandman, was announced as the winner in the holiday contest sponsored by the Wauneta Commercial Club Saturday afternoon at Santa’s visit. Five hundred bags of treats were also handed out during the afternoon.

Wauneta FFA members are sponsoring a community service project installing seat belts in community resident’s cars. About 60 seat belts have been sold at $5 each with free installation by FFA members.

Miss Janice Wade of Poughkeepsie, N.Y., and fiance Alex O’Laughlin of Eastchester, N.Y., arrived this week to spend the holidays with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gene Justice.

Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Maxfield entertained the mill employees at a Christmas party last Saturday evening.

Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Henze celebrated their 45th anniversary Dec. 20 with a number of friends coming for coffee and cake. Their south divide neighbors presented them with a gift for their new home. They had lived on the south divide for 36 years, 33 years spent on the same farm where they are still farminåg.

Dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Sinner and girls Christmas Eve were Mr. and Mrs. Ed Sinner, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Littrel and family and Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Frecks of Omaha.

Dec. 29, 1937

Old Santa with the help of the Commercial Club treated the kiddies royally Thursday afternoon with 800 sacks of candy distributed.

Mr. and Mrs. Delbert Oliver, Johnnie and Jimmie were Christmas dinner guests at the Hal Fanning home.

Mr. and Mrs. George Hollenbeck of Atwood spent Saturday and Sunday with Mrs. Hollenbeak’s father and grandparents, W. A. Deininger and Mr. and Mrs. A. Deininger.

Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Burham, Genevieve and Duane spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Frank Osmera in Ogallala.

Mrs. Eleanor Frasier and Bud were Christmas Day guests of the C. R. Frasier family in Gothenburg.

The Catholics will soon build a church in Wauneta in the near future. They have secured a lot west of D. Resler’s residence.
