After struggling to a 1-3 start, the Wauneta-Palisade boys’ basketball team found its offense last week. The Broncos finally broke the 50-point barrier this season, and doing it twice, defeating South Platte, 92-33, on Friday and Hayes Center, 57-41, at home Saturday, the Broncos have evened its record to 3-3.
Five players scored in double figures against South Platte (0-6).
Logan Bischoff and Connor Kayton each chipped in 22 points in three quarters to lead the way. Bischoff scored 16 points in the second quarter alone.
Wes Anderjaska added 13 points and Jack McGraw scored 12 points with both players only playing three quarters. Lorenzo Cavanaugh hit three-three pointers in the fourth quarter to total 12 points in the game.
The Broncos made 26-of-52 two-pointers and 10-of-30 three-pointers. W-P also made 10/19 free throws.
South Platte made more three-pointers, six, than two-pointers, five. The Knights made five-of-nine free throws.
Bischoff and Kayton once again led the Broncos the following night against Hayes Center (3-4). Bischoff scored 18 points and Kayton added 13.
The Broncos also got eight points from Anderjaska and McGraw and seven from Hayden Pollmann.
W-P made 19 baskets and three-of-nine three-pointers. The Broncos were five-of-12 from the charity stripe.
Now 3-3, the Broncos will travel to Brady Dec. 28 and 29 for the Brady Tournament.
The Broncos will take on Brady (4-1) in its opening game. The teams faced off in the opening game of the season with Brady coming out on top 54-38.
Crawford (2-3) will take on Anselmo-Merna (1-4) in the other half of the bracket.
