Drag out those boxes of Christmas tree decorations and get that imagination sparking. It’s time for the Champion Jr. Women’s Club Vision of Trees.

The eighth annual event, with a theme of Toyland, will be held at the Champion Community Center in Champion Saturday, Dec. 1, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 2, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Vision of Trees features many fantastically-decorated trees, a Nativity display, food, hand-crafted items, a bake sale, and raffle and silent auction items.

In addition musical entertainment will be provided.

A potato bake will be featured Saturday, a soup luncheon Sunday, with cookies served both days.

Meals are $4 per person.

Saturday entertainment will be Ron & Jamila Sing, Marla Smith and students and the Imperial Junior High Show Choir.

Sunday entertainment includes Rob Browning on piano and a kindergarten class play “Bob Humbug, the Christmas Grump.”

Last year 43 trees were displayed. Anyone wanting to decorate a tree this year may call Celia Spady at (308) 882-5710 or Maxine Beard at (308) 882-5936 by Nov. 27.

Those wishing to share their Nativity scenes with the public may call Emma Jenkins at (308) 883-1460 by Nov. 27.

Raffle items include a two-seater wooden bench made by Lloyd Hazard; the quilt “Diamonds are Forever” by Jean Farrer; a Christmas tree with decorations by the Jr. Women’s Club; a child’s wooden toy pickup and a child’s wooden rolling toy, both made by Gale McCormick, which will be personalized.

Raffle tickets are $1 apiece or 12 for $10. The winners will be announced at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, as will the silent auction winners. You will need not be present to win.
