The Wauneta-Palisade school board met Monday evening at the Wauneta Attendance Center for their regular meeting. In a relatively short meeting, the board finalized the sale of property to Randy and Kathy Geier. The board authorized chairman Jon Anderjaska as district representative for the sale. Bill Bischoff said the purchase price per square foot came in higher than comparable lots around town.
The board also discussed using the Palisade facilities for junior high basketball practice. At present, the boys’ and girls’teams both practice in Wauneta during eighth period. With the addition of sixth graders to the JH basketball teams there are “20-plus girls and 20-plus boys” running around the gym at the same time.
The board agreed that using the Palisade gym for alternating boys’ and girls’ practices was the safer option and is what those facilities are meant for.
Superintendent Randy Geier informed the board he would be returning next year.
Geier ended the meeting reporting the school audit went well. He also told the board of the number of compliments he has received from businesses and individuals about the football team members’ conduct throughout the season.
