Twenty-nine representatives of Southwest Nebraska Senior centers visited area centers Thursday and Friday with the group touring Wauneta’s center Friday morning.
Wauneta-Palisade homecoming king and queen, Shawn Flaig and Leah Rundback, were crowned following the Hyannis-WP football game. First attendants were Kyle Hansen and Stacey Yost with Seth Alberts and Sabrina Ward, second attendants. Crownbearers were Sydnee Harchelroad and Caleb Isom.
Leatha Sailors returned Sunday after spending six days at Branson, Mo., attending several shows there. She also went through the caverns at Springfield and toured Silver Dollar City.
Gary Polly and friend Kirk visited Eunice Bodeman. While here, they also went hunting.
Donna Jesch and Shirley Hudson spent Monday with their sister, Wilva Harchelroad.
Attending the Imperial High School musical, “All American,” Sunday evening were Charlene Pursley and Annie Pursley and Adrianne, also Ray and Donna Swanson.
Lynn and Charlene Fanning and a friend visited Russell and Viola Fanning over the weekend. Lynn and friend spent time hunting.

This week’s issue included the Centennial Edition - celebrating 100 years of the Wauneta Breeze. The 40-page edition took nearly two years of preparation. The first issue was published by John Hann on Jan. 17, 1887.
One avid reader of the Wauneta Breeze was Edna Maxfield who continued to read the Breeze at the age of 99 years. She recalled the many changes that have occurred in her life time - her early years, school years, growing up, marrying and raising three children, Ray, Emma Jean and Dorthy.
Mr. and Mrs. Marlin Wine spent the weekend in Norfolk where Lois attended a young children education conference. While there they visited with Sue McConnell, Kelly and Tim, former Wauneta residents.
Jesse West, son of Frank and Angie West, was baptized at Redeemer Lutheran Church Sunday. A dinner was hosted in his honor at the Lavon Haarberg home. Guests beside Lavon, Sharon, Chelsea and Benji were Tracy Haarberg, Frank and Angie West, Jesse and Casey, Mrs. Garth West and Montana and Theone Draper.
Patty Kitt, Casey and Carrie of Schyler spent the weekend with Beryl and Knotty Knotwell. The ladies and Carol Muths attended a bazaar and soup and pie supper at Elsie where Colleen Goings was helping.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Sandman were weekend guests of Greg and Sandy Sandman in Denver and attended an exhibit on Ramses II on Saturday.
The Wauneta junior and senior high band participated in Band Day at the Air Force Academy at Colorado Springs Saturday.

Mr. and Mrs. Otto Becker and Evelyn went to Chugwater, Wyo., Thursday to visit their daughter, Mr. and Mrs. D. Craig and Monica, On the return trip they stopped in Bayard to visit the Ken Morgans.
Mr. and Mrs. Ted Anderson and sons and Mr. and Mrs. William Roschewski returned Friday from a two week vacation to Memphis, Tenn., where they visited the Walter Jones family.
Jim Gauger returned to Fort Sill, Okla., Saturday after spending a ten-day furlough with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Gauger.
Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Frank Stute Jr. were coffee guests of Mr. and Mrs. Emerson Schwenk and Vicki and Pam Nordhausen were guests of Rhonda.
Mr. and Mrs. Woodrow Moody and Mr. and Mrs. Bruce McCallum and their families went to Boulder, Colo., Saturday to see the Colorado-Nebraska football game.
Palisade homecoming king and queen were Robert Strayer and Sonya Main. His honor attendant was Gary Carr and senior attendant Hugh Houchin.
Her honor attendant was Judy Phares and senior attendant was Janibeth Hood. Junior attendants were Pamra Mintling and Gregg Stinson; sophomore attendants: Diane Werschke and Boyd Bechtold; freshmen attendants: Gwenie Main and Robert Stinson. Steven Post and Becky Hughes were crown bearers.

November 3, 1937
At a special meeting of the village dads a volunteer fire department was organized. Nelson Burham was made fire chief, Arch Counce assistant fire chief and Dale Theobald, secretary and treasurer. The department will meet once a month for instruction and to hold fire drills.
Mrs. Anna Brannon celebrated her 80th birthday on Saturday. A number of friends came to help her commemorate the occasion.
Miss June Nesmith entertained a number of friends at a Halloween party last Friday evening.
Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Cox entertained friends at a Halloween masquerade party Friday evening.
Junior Lewis, Bernard Polly, Omer Troxel and Gordon Deininger spent Saturday and Sunday in Omaha and Lincoln attending the Nebraska-Indiana football game Saturday.
Evelyn Hoff spent Wednesday night and Thursday with Arliss Counce.
Elmer Pribbeno made a business trip to Kansas City last week.
