Wauneta-Palisade students participated in a bus evacuation drill Friday, Oct. 5 at both the Wauneta and Palisade Attendance Centers. Under the direction of Kenny Lawless, the school’s transportation director, all K-12 students practiced on both the yellow buses and the newer coach buses. A separate drill is planned for pre-kindergarten students.

Approximately 123 students are transported each day by the school district. Superintendent Randy Geier said regular bus evacuation drills are planned each year. “The Blue Hill accident is a reminder that bus accidents do happen and we must have our students and adult passengers prepared,” said Geier. “Mr. Lawless did an excellent job of presenting the necessary information regarding bus evacuation.”
