After nine matches in 11 days the Wauneta-Palisade volleyball team got a bit of a break with only one match last week. Unfortunately the Lady Broncos saw their record move to 8-8 with a 4-1 loss at Hitchcock County. Hitchcock County (10-6) led throughout the first two sets as Wauneta-Palisade hit -.229 and -.083. The Lady Broncos turned it around in set three, hitting .250, and picking up the win, 25-21. Though down by four early in the match, the Lady Broncos outscored the Falcons 15-7 down the stretch. Hitchcock County took the match with a 25-14 fourth set win. The Lady Broncos hit -.049. Despite taking a Hitchcock County spike off the forehead, Tailor Lee led Wauneta-Palisade with 11 kills. She also had four solo blocks. Emma Skelton reached double-digit assists with 13. Sydnee Harchelroad had four service aces.
JV action The JV netters picked up two wins on the week. The younger squad picked up a 23-25, 25-19, 16-14 win over Hitchcock County. The Lady Broncos JVs celebrated Homecoming with a dominant 25-12, 25-12, 25-7 win over Maywood.
Upcoming matches The Lady Broncos will host Dundy County-Stratton (12-7) and Maywood (1-16) tonight then welcome Medicine Valley (9-6) Tuesday. The season winds down with the RPAC tournament Oct. 15-16 and the regular season ends Oct. 23 at Wallace.
