Bill Bischoff assumed duties as the new Wauneta Utilities superintendent Monday.
Richard Alan Baxter of Palisade was honored Saturday by dignitaries from across the state at a homecoming in McCook honoring him as the state’s new American Legion Commander.
Hugo and Ann Valdez spent a few days with Joan and Wayne Daniel last week. Ann and Joan have been friends for 43 years.
Charlene Pursley, Leta Brunkhorst, Phyllis Nordhausen and Esther Einspahr attended the Chase County Arts Council program in Imperial Sunday, featuring guitarist David Asbury.
Ruby Anderson, Gerald Bridgman and Ethel Bridgman went to Hastings and Grand Island Friday. They were overnight guests of Ellen Prior in Hastings.
Donna and Clark McMinn spent four days in Kansas City, Mo., attending a 24th Infantry Division reunion.
Visitors of Lucille McBride Thursday were Glen and Elinor Beneda of Lampoc, Calif.
Michelle Rossman, a missionary to Thailand, was a Saturday overnight guest of Mary Emma and Marvin Maris and spoke at the Eden Missionary Church Sunday morning.

Sunday dinner guests of Elmer Lewis to help him celebrate his 95th birthday were Lorene Greeley, Vic and Reva Wicke, Frances and John Lewis, Connie and Duane Barnes and Sable, Bernice and Glen Lewis, Joan and Kenneth Lewis, Brad Lewis and friend Elizabeth, Mrs. Bob Moncrief and Lois and Worth Kanost.
Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Egle visited Michael Egle at Kearney College over the weekend. They were accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Kerry Krutsinger of Stratton who visited their son. They attended Parents Day activities and Band Day, seeing both the Wauneta and Stratton bands.
Mr. and Mrs. Keenan Kitt, Kyle and Ashley hosted a going-away supper for Sandra Maddux who will be leaving for New Haven, Conn. Guests were Jeff and Laurie Maris, Janet and Rich Keiser and Aaron and Brad and Mindi Dixon and Grant.
Those attending the Sacred Heart Catholic Church at Hayes Center and the baptism of Dirk Michael, son of Jerry and Kris Vapenik were Jerry, Kris, Seth and Jess, Kate and Jerry Repass and family, Nan and Rick Malcolm and family, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Vapenik and Mrs. Leonard Nelms. All were dinner guests of the Jerry Vapeniks.
Leslie and Judd Houser attended the Farm-Aid concert at Lincoln over the weekend with their sister, Lori Collins of Oxford.
Peg McCallum hosted a bridge foursome for the birthdays of Faye Rueter, Emma Hoff and Lucille McBride Tuesday.

Mr. and Mrs. Joe Graves were honored at a dinner at the Palisade American Legion Auxiliary Hall and a reception at the Methodist Church on their 50th anniversary. Over 200 signed the guest book.
Mr. and Mrs. John Kitt were honored on their 50th anniversary with family pictures taken at the family home, followed by an evening dinner at the Mt. Zion Church on Saturday. The family attended church Sunday morning as a group and a reception was held Sunday afternoon at the church.
The Rev. and Mrs. Mason Frazell of Lake Worth, Fla., arrived last Thursday to visit his sister, Mrs. Nellie DeHart, for a week. A family dinner was held Sunday in their honor at the Nellie DeHart home.
Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Wade of Denver spent the weekend in the home of parents, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Justice.
The Evening Circle of the Methodist WSCS hosted a style show Wednesday to “standing room only.” Modeling sports wear from Jackson’s Department Store were Shelia Greeley, Trudy Gloy, Janet Krausnick, Connie Berry, Bonnie Wicke, Jerolyn and Karrol Kitt, Donna Nordhausen and Jane d’Allemand. Modeling clothing from the Wauneta Clothing Store were Erma Newman, Evelyn Becker, Brenda Owen, Barbara Evans and Carol Marshall.
Val Foster was in Omaha on business last weekend and brought home several girls who were attending school there including Linda Springer, Margie Baldonado, La Donna Brunt and Judy Long. They returned to Omaha Sunday night.

Wauneta tennis players, McCallum and Hungate, won a doubles tennis match from Grant players Davidson and Davidson 2 to 1 on the courts here Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. O. E. McCallum returned Sunday evening from a week’s trip to Chicago.
Mr. and Mrs. John Oliver were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Del Oliver and boys.
Mrs. Flossie Kanost and Neva were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth McGooden.

Quite a hard freeze Tuesday night; first snow on narrow divide and a few flakes in the Calvert Community.
C. E. Johnston certainly got in a car of fancy buggies this week and has already sold five.
Art Nesmith filled his silo the first of the week, finished Tuesday noon.
Mable McCartney helped her aunt, Mrs. Art Nesmith, with housework and cooking for extra men Monday and Tuesday.
Clara Kitt took dinner and visited at Geo. Smith’s after Sabbath School until league time.
